Article: Hydrafacials crowned the most popular beauty treatments of 2019 RejuvCryo La Costa & Carlsbad

HydraFacials Offered at RejuvCyro & Wellness La Costa & Encinitas CA

The biggest beauty treatment trends of 2019, according to Yelp, have just been revealed and the most popular service might surprise you.

Forget your traditional mani-pedis, relaxing massages or innovative hair services, Yelp, the user-generated review forum, has found that a particular type of facial is the treatment of choice for beauty lovers this year.

And, that skin treatment is the hydrafacial.

For those unfamiliar, a hydrafacial is a noninvasive procedure that is akin to a gentler version of dermabrasion. It uses a thin-nibbed device that deeply cleanses your skin and then hydrates it by infusing your skin with potent actives.

Is the HydraFacial the holy grail of facials?

According to Yelp, hydrafacials are being mentioned on the platform four times more often in reviews than four years ago.

Last year, Allure also reported that, stateside, a hydrafacial was performed every 15 seconds, which accounts to more than the total number of Botox injections administered in the US at that time.

Yelp, which provides recommendations across health, food, lifestyle and beauty services, collated the data from the nearly 200 million reviews found on the site in celebration of its 15th anniversary.

YELP AND THE DATAFACE

The popularity of the facial could be due to the increasing trend towards natural, radiant skin and 'no make-up' make-up, as the Yelp report also revealed two other glow-boosting treatments - dermaplaning and microneedling - have risen in popularity.

Dermaplaning involves removing peach fuzz and dead skin from the face using a scalpel-like tool, for a smoother complexion which makes make-up application more flawless.

Microneedling, on the other hand, uses tiny needles to cause microscopic pinpricks in the skin to generate rejuvenation and stimulate your body's natural collagen production.

#SkinSchool: Microneedling made simple

"At Yelp, we’re seeing that people are going for beauty treatments that are reflective of a more natural look—ditching the fake tans and permanent makeup." said Tara Lewis, a Yelp trend expert to Elle US. Instead, they are "opting for treatments like dermaplaning and microneedling that improve the texture and appearance of skin, so they can let their glowy complexion steal the show."

As for the beauty treatments that have lost their on-trend status, those include lash extensions (replaced by an increased interest in lash lifting treatments) and keratin hair services (as individuals embrace the natural hair movement and the existing texture of their tresses).

We are also glad to see a decrease in the popularity of sunbed use, which was a big trend in 2005, as the information about their link with skin cancer has emerged.
